Sofia offshore wind farm is one of the world’s largest offshore wind projects.
The wind farm is owned by RWE and will use the SG 14-222 DD turbines of Siemens Gamesa. Our client Van Oord is responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of the monopile foundations and array cables.
The Sofia offshore wind farm will be built 195 kilometres off the North East coast of the United Kingdom, on the Dogger Bank in the central North Sea. Once fully operational, it will generate 1.4 GW through 100 wind turbines.
